If you missed City Council tonight, you missed a great presentation from 12-year old Wes about his project called Northern Starfish. Wes had a dream to bring a playground to Attawapiskat, an aboriginal community, which lacks decent recreation, among other things. Not only did MYAC vote to support Wes, but city council personally donated from their own pockets money to Wes’ cause! TEENS ON QUEEN!

Thank you everybody for coming out to Teens on Queen! A great night of teens from the community coming together to celebrate one of the beautiful places in our city. Thank you to all the bands who played. We hope everybody had a good time, and you can always leave us feedback on the event by letting us know in school or by contacting us.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS!

The Niagara Falls Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee is proud to announce the city-wide ‘Battle of the Bands’ taking place April 28th, 2011 at the Optimist Club in Niagara Falls, Ontario. One band from each of four of the five high schools will be competing. The event is projected to bring hundreds of students from across Niagara Falls together for a night of fun as they get a chance to enjoy the talents of their fellow students. Together with community sponsors, we are pleased to host this year’s event, showcasing the bestyoung talent of our city. Along with the four bands, the Roxwells will also perform to close the event. Tickets can be purchased for $8 at the door, or $5 in advance from any Mayor’s Youth member. Get your ticket today! Doors open at 6pm and the event runs until approximately 10pm.

NIAGARA TRANSIT PRESENTS 25 CENT BUS RIDES

Still saving up for that car? Tired of bumming rides off of your friends? Do you happen to have an extra quarter in your pocket? Well, the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee has combined with Niagara Transit to give students a break on March Break. 25 cent bus rides for all students for the entire week! It’s a great way to save money and get a ride somewhere without bugging your friends! 25 cent bus rides are an opportunity that only comes twice a year, so grab your friends and take the bus instead of driving. You’re saving money and helping the environment at the same time. 25 cent bus rides are great for everyone!
